Dental Implants
Tooth Loss No Longer Needs To Be Permanent!
With the latest advancements in dentistry, no one should feel self-conscious about his or her smile or have to live with an uncomfortable denture. Dental implants have the look, feel and function of natural teeth and are the most attractive and comfortable replacement for missing teeth.
What Are Dental Implants?
-
Dental Implants are titanium cylinders that can be placed in the actual bone of the jaw in a minor and relatively comfortable surgical procedure performed by your oral surgeon.
-
In a typical second procedure, the implant is uncovered after it has completely healed.
-
Then, a crown is placed on the implant by your restorative dentist. The missing tooth has now been restored in the mouth.
What Are Immediate Implants?
-
A patient who needs a tooth extracted for any reason today can often have what is called an immediate implant placed at the same time as the extraction.
-
Many surgeons prefer this method since it is easier to simply place an implant immediately in the area where the tooth had previously existed.
-
This allows the healing process to begin almost immediately.
-
Later, this immediate implant will need to be restored as if it was a normal natural tooth.
What Is A Single-Stage Implant?
-
The single-stage implant procedure eliminates the need for a second surgery to uncover the implant after healing and can be placed in an open space in the mouth.
-
The implant bonds to the bone, in a process known as osseintegration.
-
There will only be one minor surgical procedure, not a second uncovering surgical procedure prior to restoring the implant.
-
The final implant restoration allows you to feel, smile, eat and talk as if the teeth were original.
